How it works: The translation process
I. Reception of document
Client sends file to be translated electronically for a quote/estimation
Basic evaluation by translator: Number of words, file format
Advanced evaluation: Subject difficulty, amount of research required, target audience, goal of message in the text,etc.
II. Translator sends quote
Details on turnaround time, delivery file format and terms of payment.
III. Client accepts quote
Client notifies translator by email & purchase order. Translation won’t start till this step is completed.
Preparatory work: Research, checking of terminology, client’s reference materials if any.
Checking for grammar or style errors, and consistency of terminology use.
Verification of accuracy, completeness, writing style and suitability of the document for the target audience.
VII. Delivery to client
Translation is delivered electronically to the client.
VIII. Payment for the service
Once the document has been delivered, invoice is issued on agreed terms.
